“ | Hey! I'm searching for redemption. Wanna come along? | ” |
While an ex-pirate seeking redemption may sum up the idea of a stoic, angsty loner, Swivel is quite the opposite. She is a cheerful and resilient optimist who, despite being unlucky, tries to find the good in the situations and people around her. However, she is cowardly and averse to danger, and will abandon all pretence of dignity to extricate herself from an unpleasant situation. She is often quick to detect oncoming threats, thanks to her suite of versatile sensors. And when she needs to lay low, she is extremely comfortable in tunnels and caves to hide out in. Swivel's alt-mode is a ground vehicle adept at most terrains, and capable of being flipped over and keep moving. However, it is small and incapable of carrying passengers, however it does contain cold storage compartments.
History
Canonical/Pre-MUX/Theme History:
If there is anyone apt at slipping through the cracks, it is Swivel. For whatever reasons, her lot early in her existence was to be one of the unseen vagrants of Cybertron, instead of realising her potential as an explorer or field researcher - which her sensor-laden and sample preserving altmode was optimised for. But Swivel was never taught the skills she could have used towards a career and ended up adrift and ignorant - often taking refuge in disused tunnels. Call it bad luck. Swivel didn't. It was just life - and she quickly acclimated to being surrounded by hostile thuggery and cold indifference. But rather than embitter her, it instead taught her to treasure the few acts of kindness she was bestowed. Indeed, she was not without the occasional benefactor.
Although Swivel was not prone to acting on a whim, sometimes the fancy of wanderlust struck her hard and unprepared. One such time she had lost a mentor and benefactor to circumstances unknown to her - and it was her instinct to run whenever things became grim. Sadly, one can not outrun bad luck. Nay, her bad luck followed her right onto a space freight she stowed away upon. Not only did the vessel get attacked by pirates, but then both the freighter and the pirates ended up getting sucked into a bizarre space anomaly that hurled them to a distant point in the universe. Likely it would have happened whether Swivel was there or not. That's what Swivel told herself, for instead of seeing bad luck, she saw herself as incredibly fortunate to be going on a wild adventure. She furthermore considered her subsequent capture as fortuitous - never mind the hard labour and bad treatment she was to receive. Her life was spared when she surely would have died had she not been so blessed!
Swivel worked hard to keep earning the right to live another day. Her work was once again menial labour and simple tasks. That was, until her true talents were discovered. Swivel had a varied array of sensors, a knack for detecting danger, and was remarkably energy efficient, since all her resources were directed to detection and none to firepower. She joined the crew as a scout whenever they arrived at untamed or unfamiliar planets during their long trip back to exploitable civilization. But whenever they met hostile entities, it was also Swivel's privilege to hide and let the rest of the crew do the fighting.
The pirates made a long journey back to space they were more familiar with. And every step of the way they raided, exploited, stole and smuggled from whoever lay in their path. To survive, Swivel gradually let the memory of how she had been captured fade, replacing it with a rose-tinted narrative of how she had been saved and welcomed by the vicious pirates. Her crew was all she knew, and it was her entire world. Recreating her history gave her what she needed at the time to move forward. But slowly, she was also beginning to feel unrest deep in her core, that this life was not right for her.
This unease reached maturity as Swivel became involved more and more in various raids and missions. The cold-storage in her alt-mode was used to smuggle small but illegal perishables - substances often harmful to the species that consumed them. She was brought into the ports and black markets as an observer, as she had a good sense about people who were about to turn hostile. As a survivor on the street and then as a regularly abused captive, she knew body language and expression - and the prelude to a strike or a betrayal. As one with enhanced senses, she could also often detect ambushers lying in wait. But it also forced her to observe, first hand, the hardships she wrought. Her enthusiasm to please her crew waned, and she became distracted and neglectful in her duties. However, she kept clinging to the notion that her crew valued and cared about her.
At a crucial moment, Swivel's conflicting feelings dulled her senses, allowing a patrol to sneak up on them undetected. When the patrol struck, Swivel distracted them and then surrendered. She believed her sacrifice for her crew was noble, but secretly held on to the hope that they would return for her - and it would not truly be a sacrifice in the end. No rescue was ever attempted. Furthermore, Swivel's compliance did little to mitigate justice. She was sentenced to a remote detention centre for Cybertronians on a barren planet. Just as she had almost made it home again, her body and lasercore were split and both locked away - inert. Locked away, and due to the chaos of war, forgotten. Swivel was powerless to free herself as she once, again, slipped through the cracks into obscurity.
But it's fine. It's fine! Maybe this somehow was for the best. Surely, Swivel's resilient spirit can find a silver lining even in this. That is, once she is reactivated. And she can put a close to the shady chapters of her past, shrug it off, and begin anew, with a desire to re-align and redefine her moral compass.
MUX History:
Swivel was saved from a prison ship by a group of Autobots and Junkions in 2022 and returned to Cybertron. Once there, she settled in New Harmonex, but began working at The Rollout Bar. She began taking lessons from Blast Off.
In 2023 Swivel briefly visited Australia, Earth with Starlock, Soundwave, and Ringtone to help search for Veritas Prime. Her stay there was brief and so she did not adopt an Earth vehicle mode.
Back on Cybertron, Swivel helped Symphony stake out possible suspects in disappearances happening in Altihex. Swivel later assisted in helping track the source of the Sleeping Sickness. When New Harmonex was attacked by Menasor, Swivel planned a fundraiser concert, which featured performances from both an Autobot and a Decepticon. Later, Swivel tracked down a distress signal which led her to Starbolt, who had been in stasis for millions of years. She revived him amidst a fight with feral insecticons, and aided in getting him back to the surface safely.
OOC Notes

- A note about her alt-mode. Her alt-mode looks similar to a Turbo Flip RC car and has the same ability to flip over and keep moving. However, its functionality is more like the Mars Exploration Rovers, in that it is made to navigate extraterrestrial terrain and harsh conditions, while also having means of collecting and storing samples to be analysed later (she cannot do the analysis herself). At the start of her playing, I expect she's never been to Earth and never got an Earth vehicle mode. Figuring that out can be a problem to solve down the road.

March 8 - Info on the Hub
To the encrypted neutral board started by Goth, some information is sent anonymously. However, it wouldn't be hard to deduce the identity of the source.

Well this is better late than never. I realize maybe all this is already known. But I'm sharing it in case it isn't, or if it can confirm another source. Here is some information regarding Liege Maximo and the Cybertronian Empire otherwise known as the Hub. Those with access to this board, free to forwards the information to relevant parties.
The Hub is a distant collection of planet systems that have been conquered by Liege Maximo. Natives are erased, and their worlds cyberformed. They have Scorpion warships and Warlord battle stations. They claim to have Titans in their army but no idea if that's true. They often overwhelm their enemies with sheer numbers, attacking in coordinated swarms. What has been witnessed on Earth or Cybertron is such a small fraction of their full force. Liege Maximo often sends his Centurions to do his bidding. Not much is known about the Liege himself. Some say he's pure evil. Others darkness incarnate. I just know the Hub is terrifying and I don't want to be in their path.
I do not know where the actual seat of power is. And some of this information is outdated. Very outdated. But I will include a list of coordinates of some of the planets that had been devasted by the Hub's expansion many vorns ago.
That is all I got.
