Flattery will get you further than energon ever will.

HONEYTRAP will do whatever it takes to get what she wants, while ensuring that she wraps everyone around her proverbial finger, begging for her attention. Formatted as a cyberbee queen, she possesses one of the most efficient energon refining systems, allowing her to create a surplus with which to barter amongst the Decepticons, though the chance to have Autobots and Neutrals owing her favors certainly doesn't hurt. Ruthless in her business dealings, some say she makes Octane look like a charitable philanthropist by comparison. She can create, fill and store energon cubes in much the same way as Soundwave; while these cubes are far smaller, they store a refined energon mix that is far more powerful and efficient. On occasion, Honeytrap has used these small cubes as high-yield explosive grenades, but it pains her to do so and waste the fuel; she much prefers to utilize her void blaster or twin missile racks (her "stingers"). In her large cyberbee queen mode, Honeytrap can fly at speeds equal to normal highway vehicles; her smaller, more unobtrusive cyberbee queen mode is closer to average Cybertronian robot mode speeds. Even though she is not the most physical combatant, she has cloned a small army of cyberbee worker drones that, while not very bright, will protect her and her hive even at the cost of their own lives.

History

Canonical/Pre-MUX/Theme History:

Honeytrap was created at the same time as her Insecticon “brethren”, yet chose not to initially side with Megatron and the Decepticon Empire when the rest of the Insecticons did so. Unlike the rest of her brethren, Honeytrap wasn’t willing to settle for what she deemed as handouts, but desired instead to make her own mark.

Unfortunately for her, the fact that the rest of the Insecticons sided with the Decepticons meant that Megatron was free to exert plenty of pressure and influence to force her into the fold. And eventually, when it became clear that her hives would continue to be assailed and threatened, even by her own supposed brethren, Honeytrap finally – albeit reluctantly – bent the knee to avoid the extermination of all she held dear.

She did not serve with distinction, or even with any particular loyalty – her only true loyalty was to herself, and to rebuilding what had been taken from her. But Honeytrap did learn the lessons of Megatron all too well. When the Insecticons joined the Decepticons aboard the Nemesis to pursue Optimus Prime and the Autobots, she wound up separated from the rest, claiming her own escape pod and evacuating from the Decepticon flagship as it and the Autobot Ark went spiraling down towards Earth. And while the rest of her Insecticon “brethren” wound up crash-landing in the Demon Swamp on the Indonesian island of Bali in their own escape pod, Honeytrap’s escape pod wound up somewhere much different: an area of land that would later be known as the southwestern United States, specifically the Egan Range of mountains in Nevada.

While Honeytrap’s escape pod crashed into the depths of the Egan Range, she had not taken any combat damage in the fray. The sensor arrays in the pod managed to function long enough to find a suitable form, despite the fact that it had gone extinct perhaps ten million years previously. It would only be in recent times that the truth of Honeytrap’s altmode would be revealed: apis nearctica, the only native honeybee species to North America.

Honeytrap’s idento-computers took those scans and did the rest: her body began the process of internal reconfiguration to assume the form of a cybernetic honeybee. Once that was done, she took stock of her situation, and began with foraging to gather what she would need to make a single drone, sending it out to scout for additional resources.

When the reports came back, Honeytrap was faced with both good news and bad news: there would be plenty of resources, but trying to get off-world would prove more problematic. Setting about to make herself as comfortable as she could, Honeytrap began creating severalmore drones to build a hive. Fortunately, however, she was able to recover the emergency transponder from her crashed escape pod, and directed her hive to boost the signal strength as much as possible.

One spacecraft finally arrived, several thousand years later, only to be swarmed over by Honeytrap’s hive. Taking control of the spacecraft, Honeytrap left Earth behind, setting course to return to Cybertron with her drones. On the journey back, however, Honeytrap reconsidered her options: the Decepticons thought she was missing along with Megatron and everyone else. She suddenly had something she’d not had since before Megatron forced her and the Insecticons into the Decepticon fold: freedom to choose her own direction.

On approach to Cybertron, she set a course that would result in a crash-landing into the Great Trench, allowing the vessel to sink into the depths. Then, she and her drones abandoned ship, transforming into their cyberbee modes and waited for the vessel to come to a rest after the crash before setting to work. It was time to build a new hive, and no trace could remain of the foreign spacecraft. Over time, the hive grew and expanded – mostly for storage purposes. Honeytrap sat back as her drones did their work, and slowly began to expand her network and connections.

By the present day, Honeytrap’s become a black-market supplier, her connections firmly established and her energon production in full swing. With things getting more interesting, however, the time has come for Honeytrap to finally reappear and reveal herself fully.

Apr 06 - IC: Message to Stanix

From: Honeytrap
At: Wed 18:52:58 2022 (Conn)
To  : Thunderwatch
Subject: Message to Stanix

<< the following message arrives with little fanfare, delivered by a small cyberbee drone that transforms via size-change into robot mode long enough to hand over the message with instructions to deliver it to those currently in charge of Stanix, then transforms back into a small cyberbee drone and departs; the message, when accessed, is voice-only >>

To the current rulers of the city-state of Stanix:

Word has reached my audials concerning your current plight. Normally, I confess that my interest under normal circumstances would be virtually nil, but these are, shall we say, interesting times. As such, rather than continue to simply focus upon my own personal affairs and business, I've instead elected to observe things, particularly since your decision to break away from the Decepticon Empire.

Your citizens have endured much in the time since your declaration of independence: attacks by the Empire, targeted by as-yet-unknown terrorist assailants, and more. The news of this newly-arrived Primus Pilus and his claims to being Megatron surely do not help the situation.

To that end, I propose to do business. I imagine that, by now, you've had various dealings in the past with black-market connections like Cryotek, or even those under-the-table deals that might have been made by Octane or Swindle during your previous Imperial leanings. I'm quite certain that Cryotek will extort you to no end, and be rather brutish about it when his terms are not met; likewise, as you no longer possess Imperial leanings, Octane and Swindle's prices are likely well beyond a premium.

However, I can offer you two services that they cannot, or will not: first, energon of various grades, all of which are quite potent compared to the normal rations; I imagine they would make for some of the best vintages of Stanixian energon wine ever produced. Second, I can offer the chance for Stanix to rebuild; I have numerous drones at my disposal, all of which are more than capable of assisting in reconstruction efforts.

The question then becomes this: what price are you willing to pay to see Stanix rise again?

I'll let you mull over my offer for three cycles, and give you the following encryption key to send your reply as to my offer and the price you're willing to pay. I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

<< the transmission pauses briefly before a second voice (a drone) rattles off a specific radio frequency encryption key >>
