The HK-Hydrofoil, Cyberdyne Systems C Series Autonomous Submersible Hydroplane, or Sea HK, is a submersible aquatic Hunter-Killer used by Skynet 2.0.
Specification
The HK-Hydrofoil is a versatile and imposing vessel that combines the functionalities of a gunboat, submarine, and hydrofoil. With a size comparable to a mid-sized yacht, the triangular C-Series has a sleek tapered body complemented by port and starboard stabilizer wings, ensuring stability even in turbulent sea conditions. This advanced design prevents the vessel from capsizing during high-seas operations.
The C-Series features searchlights, torpedo launchers, water cannons, two turreted laser cannons, and an optional retrieval claw. A scorpion-like tail is located on the ventral side of the vessel, typically compressed against the bottom hull. The tail is deployed during high-speed maneuvers, enabling the Sea HK to skim the water's surface by lifting itself onto a surface-piercing foil. When the HK needs to submerge, the tail retracts, and a powerful propulsion burst thrusts the hydrofoil underwater.
The Sea HK includes sophisticated sensors that operate as a relay system for burst communications networks, facilitating mobile communication coverage anywhere as required by Skynet 2.0 and its Terminator units. These hydrofoils are typically deployed in groups of six or more, forming a hexagonal formation that covers several kilometers.
The Resistance has identified a potential vulnerability within the Sea HK's communication system. By exploiting the signals relayed through these networks, there is a possibility to disrupt Skynet's link to all Hunter-Killer units operating within the system's limits. Such interference could disorientate the Hunter-Killers, severely impairing their cognitive and speed functions. Simulations conducted by the Resistance have demonstrated the potential efficacy of this strategy in impeding Skynet's forces.
Mission Profile
During search-and-destroy operations, an HK-Hydrofoil will skim just beneath the water's surface, showcasing its dorsal sensor-fin that emerges with a striking resemblance to a shark. The Sea HKs coordinate their sensors in this configuration using tightly focused beam communications bursts. When unleashed, these units exhibit a synchronized attack pattern akin to a group of piranhas, often consisting of five individuals. Disrupting the functionality of the exposed fin or compelling the hydrofoil to submerge entirely will prompt the units to revert to independent operation once more.
