Phantom Pain ｢幻虹細剣, fantomu pein, lit. "Illusion Rainbow Thin Sword"｣ is a Legend-grade rapier used by Hinata Sakaguchi.
Abilities
It carries the effect of certainly killing the opponent on the seventh hit ｢〝七回目の攻撃で確実に相手を死に至らしめる〟, nanakaime no kōgeki de kakujitsuni aite o shini itara shimeru｣ to perform Dead End Rainbow.[1] As a legend-grade rapier, its quality is inferior to Moonlight but better in terms of usability.[2]
Initially, it could only hit the target's spiritual body directly and destroying it upon the seventh consecutive hit.[3] After various improvement, it can even destroy the astral body upon the seventh consecutive hit.[2]
History
Phantom Pain was originally a unique-grade rapier Hinata used againts Rimuru in their first fight during Human-Monster Interaction,[3] but got eaten and broken by Gluttony.[4]
The broken rapier, later retrieved from Rimuru's stomach, was then analyzed and improved by Rimuru into a new unique-grade rapier with its effect reproduced completely, keeping its usability the same.[1] The data from the analyzed rapier was used to create Gorikimaru Revised's Soul Eater effect.[5]
After the battle with the Seven Luminaries, Tempest allied themselves with the Western Holy Church and Lubelius during Territory Seizure and Rimuru gifted the new rapier to Hinata.[1] The new rapier then later underwent multiple improvements by Kurobe with its quality raised into legend-grade.[2]
