Class S

Class S is a group of students that was part of the Freedom Academy with their latest teacher being Clouse.^[1] They relocated to Rimuru City during the events of the Opening of the Monster City.

Background

The members of Class S are all Summoned Otherworlders that did not gain a Unique skill upon being summoned to the Central World and so were left with only their vast magical energy, which, having failed to be converted to skills, would eventually destroy their bodies within five years. After ending up in the Central World, they attended Freedom Academy where they quickly got along with their teacher Shizu, who promised to save them from their fate. But when she left, they became very troublesome, rejecting every replacement teacher and only accepting Shizu.

Story

When Rimuru Tempest was assigned to be their teacher, they managed to get them to behave with the help of Ranga. They challenged the students to mock battles: should they defeat Rimuru before time runs out, they win, otherwise, they will have to accept Rimuru. Class S ended up losing and are forced to accept Rimuru as their teacher, but they soon began to bond. Seeing that the overflowing energy inside them will eventually result in their deaths, Rimuru brought them students to the Dwelling of the Elementals owned by Demon Lord Ramiris, who helped them find elementals to inhabit their bodies to ensure their survival (in which Kenya becomes the host of an Elemental of light and Chloe becomes the host of an unknown spirit).

Sometime later, to prepare them for their upcoming outdoor training exam, Rimuru got them weapons and a trailer-like carriage called the camping car. Tiss is assigned to go with them, and she is amazed to see how much they have changed thanks to Rimuru. Class S made it to the Town of Guratol much earlier than the other groups, but as they went to the nearby caves for the next part of their exam, a band of thieves attacked them. The students managed to defeat the thieves, only to be confronted by a Phantom Commanding officer that allied with them, who proved too powerful for them. Luckily, they were saved by the Primordial Noir, who answered Tiss' impromptu summoning in order to repay his old debt to the class' now-deceased teacher, Shizu. Afterwards, they returned to Count Guratol's mansion to give him the bad news about the medicine for his sick wife Ulamuth Guratol. After Rimuru cures Ulamuth, they and Class S returned to the Freedom Academy. Sometime after, they are disappointed by the fact that Rimuru is leaving, but they promise to come back and visit. From now on, Tiss serves as their teacher.

They and Tiss later travel to Tempest for the upcoming festival. Once there, they learn of Rimuru's true identity and bonded with Hinata. They later take part in Tempest's festival and are among the audience watching the martial arts tournament. They later had a meal during a break from the competition.
