The Wild Woods was a dangerous, forested area that surrounded the domed city of Finetime.
The citizens of Finetime were told upon arrival that they must never touch the Wild Woods. Lindy Pepper-Bean theorised that the Mantraps originated from the Wild Woods.
Because Lindy and her people were racist, viewing black people and those who associated with them as contaminated, they refused the Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby Sunday's offer to flee the world with them in the TARDIS — choosing instead to leave the city by boat for the Wild Woods, where they would have little or no chance of survival.
