Dr. Senta (PROSE: The Savages) was the chief scientist of the City of the Elders.
Biography
After Senta put Wylda through the transference process, he commented that the guards really put the pressure on the laboratory — "Always on my shift. Always Tuesday mornings." (PROSE: The Savages)
Senta put Nanina through the transference process when she was brought in by Exorse. He was surprised when Dodo Chaplet showed up in the laboratory and wanted to report the matter, but Edal ordered him not to do so.
Senta also performed the transference process on the First Doctor, transferring his life force into Jano. Edal convinced him that the transference was making Jano behave strangely. However, when Jano returned and began destroying the machinery, Senta was powerless to stop him. (TV: The Savages)
Behind the scenes
- Senta is referred to as having the title "Doctor" only in Ian Stuart Black's novelisation. This was not derived from any information given in the televised version.
- Senta's comment about "Tuesday mornings", following the treatment of Wylda, appears only in the novelisation; it is not present on the existing audio recordings of The Savages episode one.
- Senta is described in the novelisation as being "a sharp-featured man in his late thirties" (quote, page 34) — quite unlike Norman Henry, who played the part on television and was sixty-four at the time.
