Renée Thalia

Renée Thalia was Orchestral Attaché to the Theatrology Department at St Oscar's University.

Biography

Early life

For some time, Renée played the cello for bed and board before interviewing for the position of Orchestral Attaché to the Theatrology Department at St Oscar's University. In her interview, she told Irving Braxiatel about her belonging to the Church of the Grey and was given the job. It was Braxiatel's belief that she slept with most of the students and staff members. Return of the gods

Four months after joining the university, Renée arrived fifteen minutes late to perform a cello concerto for the Sultan of the Tashwari and was watched closely by John, who afterwards invited her to his room. She went, agreeing to report back to Braxiatel, but left prematurely after John told her that she would soon be joining the army. This proved to be true when Braxiatel sent a representative of the New Moral Army to her room to recruit her and she was forced to accept, being threatened with her salary being stopped.

Renée told other recruits about the Church of the Grey, which led to a number of them converting to her religion. After converting an Earth Reptile, she decided to evangelise and recruit as many people as possible away from the other religions and cults, leading General Watt to promote her from private to captain. She refused to leave the planet with Braxiatel when he asked, although she did thank him for his concern.

Renée recruited more than four hundred people to the Church of the Grey and was told by the Sultan that, once she had killed Braxiatel for failing to comply with Sultanate Decree Number 193 and other crimes, she would receive a visit from the Grey God. After arresting Braxiatel, she summoned the Grey God, ostensibly to witness his execution, and she and her followers killed him with their rifles. She then helped Braxiatel get those that survived the bombing of the spaceport to the fleet of ships prepared by John to get them off-world. (PROSE: Where Angels Fear)

Later life

Because Renée had a different idea of what a long-term relationship was to him, Braxiatel eventually manipulated her into running off with the first officer of a heavy space-hauler. (PROSE: Tears of the Oracle)

Personality

Renée belonged to the Church of the Grey but sometimes wanted the answers that a religion like Judaism could provide. She found most people predictable and was intrigued by Irving Braxiatel. (PROSE: Where Angels Fear)

Appearance

Renée had curly, fair hair, blue eyes, milky-white skin and a body which was slightly plumper than average. She bore a resemblance to Marilyn Monroe and often wore expensive perfume and revealing clothing. (PROSE: Where Angels Fear)
