- When Wolsey gains sentience in Oh No It Isn't!, he begins to sing "I'd Do Anything" from the musical adaptation of Oliver Twist. Benny stops him singing before he gets too far in.
- In Daughter of the Gods, voice actor Ian Crowe gave the character of Varx a gruff voice, which he stated was inspired by portrayals of Bill Sikes. (BFX: Daughter of the Gods)
- The 1962 BBC serial featured Max Adrian as Fagin and John Carson as Monks.
- Ron Moody starred as Fagin in the 1960 musical Oliver!, as well as its 1968 movie adaptation - both of which were based directly on this novel.

- In 1985, a BBC adaptation of Oliver Twist as a 12-episode miniseries was produced by Terrance Dicks. It boasted of an original score by Dudley Simpson and featured Terry Molloy as Brittles, Mrs Maylie's handyman and Miriam Margolyes as Mrs. Corney.
- Tim McInnerny voiced Bill Sikes in a 1994 BBC Radio adaptation.
- The 1999 television film featured Lindsay Duncan as Elizabeth Leeford, Marc Warren as Monks, Annette Crosbie as Mrs. Bedwin, Roger Lloyd Pack as Mr. Sowerberry and Sophia Myles as Anges Fleming.
- The 2005 film featured Ian McNeice as Mr. Limbkins and John Nettleton as the First Magistrate.
- The 2007 mini-series featured Sophie Okonedo as Nancy, Sarah Lancashire as Mrs. Corney, Anna Massey as Mrs. Bedwin, John Sessions as Mr. Sowerberry and Michelle Gomez as Mrs. Sowerberry.
- Geoffrey Palmer played Mr. Brownlow in a 2012 radio adaptation for Focus on the Family.
- In 2022, CBBC broadcasted a spinoff series entitled Dodger, a prequel to the novel focusing on the Artful Dodger. For this series, Christopher Eccleston played the role of Fagin, Alex Kingston played Lucifer, Simon Callow played the Archbishop of Canterbury and Anita Dobson played Bertha the Toymaker .
