Lydda was a location on Earth, near Jaffa and Ramlah. El Akir was the Emir of Lydda in the 1190s, serving under Sultan Saladin. After Barbara deceived him by impersonating Princess Joanna, El Akir kidnapped Barbara from Saladin's custody, taking her to Lydda. (TV: The Crusade)
