K9 belonged to an incarnation of the Doctor who required the use of a wheelchair.

Behind the scenes

Although it is not explicitly stated in the original Rose ^[+]Russell T Davies, adapted from Rose (Russell T Davies), Target novelisations (Target Books, 2018). novelisation of the television episode ^[+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who series 1 (BBC One, 2005). released in 2018, the illustrated edition released in 2023 confirmed the robot dog accompanying the Doctor to be a K9 unit.
