The Iron automata were a species that the Eighth Doctor encountered on Hyspero.
They could belch fire and were able to fry their enemies on the spot. Hidden inside each of the Iron automata was an "evil and bitter" Djinn which was determined to wreak havoc on the world. (PROSE: The Scarlet Empress)
