Gerry Davis

Gerry Davis (23 February 1930-31 August 1991[1]) was script editor of Doctor Who from 1966 to 1967. According to Anneke Wills, he originated the idea of the Doctor changing their body. He is the co-creator of the Cybermen with Kit Pedler.

According to the documentary Cybermen: The Early Years, he also co-wrote The Moonbase with Pedler, but was uncredited due to BBC policy at the time.

Legacy

Following his death, he and Kit Pedler were credited for creating the Cybermen for their appearances in the post-2005 era of Doctor Who.

His original version of Revenge of the Cybermen was adapted as an audio drama for Big Finish, released under its originally-intended title Return of the Cybermen.

Archive interviews with Davis were read out by actors for the documentaries The End of the Line?, The Power of the Daleks - From Script to Screen and Second Time Around.
