Geoffrey Orme (10 June 1904-21 January 1978[1]) wrote the Doctor Who television story The Underwater Menace.
Orme had previously submitted a storyline entitled The Evil Eye, but it was rejected.
His writing career dates back to 1936, and Doctor Who was one of his last writing jobs for TV.
Born in 1904, Orme was the earliest born writer to ever work on Doctor Who. At the age of 62 in 1966, during the writing and production of The Underwater Menace, he was the oldest writer to have written for the series. This would be a status he would maintain until 1984's The Twin Dilemma, written by Anthony Steven who was aged 67.
