• When Jack shows the psychic paper to Yani Mamora, it says he is the president of the Doctor Who Appreciation Society.
• Yani has looked at holo-pics of the Doctor and Penny on Stumblr.
• Yani has watched the untransmitted pilot of Doctor Who?
• Yani's friend Mixy was also a fan of Doctor Who?
• Yani identifies as a Doctorian.
• The fictional Doctors space-vehicle resembles the Whomobile.

Popular culture

• The Doctor mentions that Jedward and wearable salad were popular at first but then completely forgotten.
• One of the Gharusa Prime inhabitants is wearing a Game Grumps t-shirt.

Notes

• The mention of an untransmitted Doctor Who? pilot hearkens back to the original pilot pitched for the Doctor Who series that was eventually reworked into An Unearthly Child.
• The Doctor Who Appreciation Society is an analogue of the namesake society from the real world.
• The term "Doctorian" for the fan of Doctor Who? is a clear allusion to the term "Whovian" used in the real world.
