Daily Download

Daily Download2

In a parallel universe known as Pete's World (TV: Doomsday [+]Russell T Davies, Doctor Who series 2 (BBC One, 2006).), the Daily Download was a service released every day by the Cybus Network. The Daily Download included news, international news, sport, weather, TV schedules, lottery numbers, and a joke. Those with EarPods would have the information downloaded directly into their brains. (TV: Rise of the Cybermen [+]Tom MacRae, adapted from Spare Parts (Marc Platt), Doctor Who series 2 (BBC One, 2006).)

History

Earpods download

An article on the Cybus Industries website allowed owners of Cybus EarPods to personalise what content was downloaded into their brain with the next daily download. The content included: Weather; Travel Restrictions; Curfew Information; Film Reviews; Television Reviews; News Headlines; Horoscopes; Lottery Results; and Health and Fitness. (PROSE: EarPod [+]Joseph Lidster, Cybus (BBC, 2006).) These downloads only provided information from the Cybus Network, which had become the sole information provider on Earth (PROSE: Lumic [+]Tom MacRae, Cybus (BBC, 2006).) and acted as the default network for internet by the 21st century.

According to Rita-Anne Smith, there was nothing about recent disappearances in 2007 on the Download.

Ricky Smith believed those who didn't receive the Daily Download, such as the Preachers, had freedom.

When the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler visited this world, the pair were surprised that everyone on the street suddenly stopped at 2:40 in the afternoon, to receive the day's news. Rose's mobile phone also downloaded the Daily Download, having automatically connected to the Cybus Network earlier. Rose's phone indicated that there were a total of fifty-seven sections of content included in the download.
