Stabs a target for X kinetic damage. Shiv deals 10% more damage to targets affected by your poison effects.

Shiv is an Operative combat style ability. It deals direct damage, is available for all disciplines, and granted at level 1.

Shiv has a relatively short cooldown. The relevant poison effects include Corrosive Dart and Corrosive Grenade.

Shiv is the foremost source of the Tactical Advantage resource mechanic, so much so that Shiv is even explicitly mentioned on the passive's tooltip. Shiv is upgraded by License to Kill to provide a raidbuff (Susceptible, increasing tech damage). Another passive upgrade is Fatality at level 35, which gives a bonus when Shiv is used in every 10 second period (effectively every second cast of it), making it free to use Corrosive Assault without spending Tactical Advantage.

Concealment discipline upgrades this ability to Veiled Strike. The Republic counterpart is Blaster Whip.

In lore, this ability is the reason why an Operative would carry a Vibroknife. With current game mechanics however, having one equipped is sufficient and the quality of the equipped vibroknife does not affect Shiv any more than the Operative's other abilities.
