—Episode Synopsis[2]

Night 3

A powerful thunderstorm makes things uncomfortable at La Mina camp. Shane Powers reports that they failed to complete the palm thongs on the shelter, but the rain changed direction when they did. Shane was scared off by thunder. At Viveros, the younger men are not fairing much better. Austin Carty notes they have to improve the shelter to take on the rain. He even remarks that they are dying.

Day 4

The Casaya camp is flooded. The older women attempt to make fire, but it is very difficult. At Bayoneta, Courtney Marit and Sally Schumann attempt to get some papaya off a tall tree. After some difficulty, the women succeed. The younger women enjoy their breakfast and Courtney wishes "Papaya love on the sisters of Bayoneta." Misty Giles is happy that they have food. Back at the older men's camp, they examine the damage. Shane thinks about his son, Boston, and questions why is he on Survivor. He states that he has a hard time with the monotony and yells at the sky for no more rain.

The tribes gather and everyone is asked to stand on a disc: men on the light ones, women on the dark ones. Everyone flipped over their disc and the castaways with the two buffs under was asked to come forward. Terry Deitz becomes a member of La Mina, while Danielle DiLorenzo becomes a member of Casaya. Bruce Kanegai, who was unpicked, states it would be disappointing to be eliminated so early. However, Bruce becomes excited when he learns that he is the only one who is unable to be eliminated. He would spent three days on Exile Island. Jeff explains how the challenge works, and the reward is for various fishing supplies. The challenge was close between the two tribes. However, La Mina won over Casaya. La Mina celebrates the win, with Danielle stating "This sucks."

Courtney and Shane comment the Casaya camp as being nice. Shane then talks about how the older men was and wonder why he was placed on the older men when "34 going on 12". In a confessional, Shane states he feels that he relate to younger people better. Cirie Fields shows the tribe the shelter and notes they have been dry all night. The others are impressed, particularly Courtney. In a confessional, Cirie states they have been invaded by the newcomers. Melinda Hyder compares her and Cirie's situation to that game where you have to point out what stands out and the original Casaya stands out. Melinda believes that she or Cirie are on chopping block if they lose the Immunity Challenge. She claps and says we're screwed. Shane decides to make an alliance with Danielle, Courtney and Aras Baskauskas. To solidify the alliance, he swears on his kid's life. He also threatens to find and murder them should they betray him. Danielle states the people who don't communicate with the others are the ones to get voted out.

At La Mina, the newcomers are impressed by the camp. In a confessional, Dan Barry states this is the tribe he wanted to be on and he and Terry have a good bond and a strategy to get to the end. Terry asked Austin and Nick Stanbury to join an alliance between him and Dan. Nick talks about this in a confessional. The men shake hands. Sally then talks to Austin about an alliance as well. Austin talks about him and Nick being the swing vote in a confessional.

At Exile Island, Bruce receives a clue from exile. In addition to the clue Misty received, Bruce receives a map marking out the locations where the Hidden Immunity Idol is not hidden. Using the information, Bruce deducts that the idol is near a cliffside and decide to focus on the search for the idol. However, he runs out of flint. Bruce practices his martial arts to clear his mind. A rainstorm hits the island, making things miserable. Bruce states he would not wish the experience of Exile Island on anyone, not even his worst enemy.

Day 6

At La Mina, the tribe decides to go fishing. They wanted to use the spear, but didn't had any experience with it. Terry shows Sally how to work the spears and tells her to hold on to it. Sally and Nick go fishing. Sally admits she should have practice with the spear more. This would come true because the spear would slip off her arm on her first attempt to use it. Despite her best efforts, she was unable to retrieve it. Nick says it's okay and tries to calm down the upset Sally. Sally explains to Dan and Terry that she lost the spear, much to the men's shock. Terry states in a confessional that the tribe would eating if they had the spear. Misty tells Sally they can make one.

At the Immunity Challenge, Jeff asks how are the tribes are doing. Misty responds that La Mina is doing good and his maintaining an upbeat attitude. Shane responds that Casaya isn't doing good and is not going to sugarcoat it. Jeff explains how the challenge works. Casaya struggled early on, allowing La Mina to surge ahead and win.

In a confessional, Shane said he hates losing, start listing things he wants and believes coming to Survivor is the stupidest decision he made. Shane tells Danielle and Courtney to vote him out. He explains that he has to quit because it's what he can't do. Danielle and Courtney tried to talk him out of it. Aras comes up and is told of situation. Courtney makes a confessional about the situation, believing that Shane is letting them down. Melinda goes tell Bobby Mason and Cirie that Shane wants to quit, to their shock. Cirie believes that if Shane wants to quit, let him quit. Aras talks to Shane and was able to talk Shane out of quitting. Aras tells everyone at the shelter. Shane apologizes for his "sanity flip-flop" Aras also tells Cirie and Melinda that they are likely to get voted out for being the physically weakest. Cirie and Melinda glare at him. In a confessional, Courtney viewed Aras's telling people that he is going to vote one of them out as idiotic. Shane basically tells everyone that he, Courtney, Aras, and Danielle are in an alliance and confirms Aras' statement. Something Courtney also viewed as stupid. Cirie and Melinda talks about how they were going to be voted out. Cirie believes she is going. In a confessional, Melinda points out that she was the last picked in the Schoolyard Pick. On the way to Tribal Council, Shane states that Melinda and Cirie are going, but he is worried about his moodswings.

At Tribal Council, everyone who didn't had a torch dips it in the fire. Bruce comes in from Exile, will not speak and will join Casaya after someone was voted out. Jeff first addresses Shane's answer to his question at the Immunity Challenge. Then he asks about camp life. Cirie responds it was good until she and Melinda were told one of them are being voted out. Melinda elaborates on this by pointing out there is nothing the others could point out they could have done better. Jeff then asked Melinda and Cirie about lasting six days. When the vote came, the first two votes were for Shane. However, the remaining votes were for Melinda. After Melinda leaves, Bruce takes off his La Mina buff and is given a Casaya buff and heads back to camp with them.

(voting against Melinda) I cannot wait to actually get to know you. You seem like a wonderful woman.
Melinda
(voting against Shane) Shane, you made me promise that I would vote for you, and I don't go back on a promise.
Bobby
(voting against Melinda) Wish we could have won everything and kept everybody here, kept them intact. You know where this vote's coming from. Somebody has to go. You know how "Survivor" works. Hope to catch up with you on the outside.
Danielle
(voting against Melinda) Good luck. I was outnumbered. You know how I feel about this.
Aras
(voting against Melinda) Melinda, we're just gambling on athleticism right now, not because you are a bad person.
Courtney
(voting against Melinda) I'm sorry Melinda, you're a beautiful spirit. I wish you the best in life. I love your anecdotes, okay?

Final Words

Melinda
I just found myself on the tribe that's like, "Hey, man! Yo! Dude, what's up?" And that's just not me. It won't ever be me nor do I think I want it to be me. So, I just wish Cirie luck because I know she didn't want to go back there without me. It's just going to be hell. But I'm going to have a shower, and I'm going to drink water, and I'm going to eat food!
