Old Books

Old Books (ふるい本/古い本; Furui Hon) are items that can be found in every game of the main Suikoden series. They do not appear in the spin-off games Suikoden Tierkreis and Genso Suikoden: The Woven Web of a Century.

These Old Books range in topics from tactical, to recruiting, to historical information. Old Books can be found throughout the games in various locations.

Suikoden I

Suikoden I has 8 Volumes of books. You must recruit Hugo before you can get rid of/read them.

Old Book Vol. 1 tells The Story of Creation.
Old Book Vol. 2 is titled Ancient Teachings and tells about runes.
Old Book Vol. 3 tells about Basic Military Strategy for Major Battles.
Old Book Vol. 4 is titled The Knights of the Dragon's Den
Old Book Vol. 5 is titled Craftsmen's Profiles.
Old Book Vol. 6 is Black List and contains a list of suspicious characters.

Suikoden II

Suikoden II has 12 Volumes of books. You must recruit Emilia before you can get rid of/read them.

Old Book Vol. 1 tells about Antiques
Old Book Vol. 2 tells the story of the Sindar from the perspective of an explorer searching Sindar ruins
Old Book Vol. 3 details the possible rare finds found in shops in the various towns.
Old Book Vol. 4 contains a list of suspicious characters.
Old Book Vol. 5 tells The Story of Creation.
Old Book Vol. 6 is titled A Guide to Trading.

Suikoden III

Suikoden III has 12 Volumes of books. It can be found throughout the game. You must give it to Eike before you can get rid of/read them.

Old Book Vol. 1 is titled Curio Delights and talks about antiques.
Old Book Vol. 2 is titled Legend of Cyndar and tells the story of the Sindar from the perspective of an explorer searching Sindar ruins.
Old Book Vol. 3 is titled Taraq's List of Finds and details the possible rare finds found in shops in the various towns.
Old Book Vol. 4 is titled Approach With Caution, and contains a list of dangerous characters.
Old Book Vol. 5 tells The Story of Creation.
Old Book Vol. 6 is titled Trader's Handbook.

Suikoden IV

Suikoden IV has 10 Volumes of books. It can be found throughout the game. You must give it to Tanya before you can get rid of/read them.

Old Book Vol. 1 is titled Birth of Rune Cannons.
Old Book Vol. 2 is titled Lives of Pirates.
Old Book Vol. 3 is titled Man-Hunting Incident.
Old Book Vol. 4 is titled Bargain List.
Old Book Vol. 5 is titled Introduction to Trade.
Old Book Vol. 6 is titled Easy way to make Defensive Equipment-(Armor Chapter).

Suikoden V

Suikoden V has 13 Volumes of books. It can be found throughout the game. You must give it to Alhazred before you can get rid of/read them.

Old Book Vol. 1 tells The Story of Creation.
Old Book Vol. 2 tells the Story of the Sun Rune and the Night Rune, explaining the origins of the Twilight Rune, Dawn Rune, and even the Celestial Sword.
Old Book Vol. 3
Old Book Vol. 4
Old Book Vol. 5 is titled Royal Family Succession Conflict.
Old Book Vol. 6 is titled The Legendary Sindar Race.
