Asahi Kuga (空閑 旭姫 Kuga Asahi?) is the main heroine of the Shichisei no Subaru light novel and the deuteragonist of the anime series. Asahi is a rear guard member of Subaru who always seen with smile on her face. She died from a heart failure right after her in-game character dies, leading to the closure of <<Union>>.

Asahi has silver hair and blue eyes.
Personality
Because her mind is six years less mature, Asahi has no problem taking off her clothes to dry them in front of Haruto.
Background
Asahi was a member of the most powerful guild in <<Union>>, Subaru along with her elementary school friends. When encountering the dungeon boss, She is killed in the game protecting Haruto. She subsequently dies from heart failure in the real world, resulting in the game being shut down.
Plot
Six years later, Haruto is surprised to find her sleeping inside a treasure chest. Having conversation with her, Haruto realizes that she still thinks it is the day of the failed quest six years ago and finds out that she cannot log out of the game. A rival guild from the original game attacks Haruto and she activates her Sense that allows Haruto to predict his opponent's movements to beat him as while Haruto doesn't have his, Asahi still has hers. Out of jealousy, Satsuki asks her to stay away from Haruto after telling her what kind of person he had become, and the ensuing argument leads Haruto to log out. Back in the game, Haruto and her go on an adventure to gather materials for a ring that Haruto gives to her, and Satsuki has one made for herself. The three venture into the dungeon where they had their final quest searching for answers regarding Asahi and encounter the dungeon boss that killed her summoned by Elicia. Her, Satsuki and Haruto defeat the boss Purgatorio responsible for Asahi's game over. Upon his defeat, they see mysterious images inside their heads, and Asahi suspects they are her memories. They set out to find the remaining Subaru members when they are surrounded by members of the elite Southern Cross guild who are after Asahi. They're soon joined by a different guild called the Brill Society.
Relationships
Haruto Amō
Asahi and Haruto are close friends, who seem to have a romantic relationship as well. Haruto feels responsible for Asahi's death, which causes him to convince Asahi that she is dead. Before the events of Asahi's Game Over, on Asahi's request, they exchange their guild rings and swear to protect each other. Moreover, the two seem to share a romantic relationship, which is proven, when Haruto rejects Satsuki's request to dance with her, with him saying that he wants to dance with Asahi.

Etymology
- The name Asahi means "rising sun, morning sun" (旭) (asa) and "princess" (姫) (hi).
- Asahi's surname Kuga means "sky" (空) (ku) and "quiet, leisure" (閑) (ga).
