Gou (號 ゴウ) is a character originating as concept art for Captain Commando before making his official debut in Street Fighter 6. Trained in Bushinryu Ninjutsu, Gou is Guy's pupil and the father of Ginzu the Ninja.[1]
History
According to concept art for Captain Commando, Ginzu learnt Bushinryu Ninjutsu from his father Gou. Street Fighter 6 director Takayuki Nakayama would later reveal that Gou would become Guy's student and later succeed him to become the 40th Grandmaster. The idea of a Grandmaster for the Bushinryu fighting style was first introduced in Street Fighter Alpha 2 where the school's 38th Grandmaster (Zeku) passed on the title to Guy in the latter's arcade ending, making him the 39th Grandmaster.[2] Takayuki Nakayama has also revealed that Ginzu would eventually succeed Gou to become the 41st Bushinryu Grandmaster.[3]
Gou makes his first proper appearance in Street Fighter 6's World Tour mode. He appears during Kimberly's 2nd Memory dialogue where she mentions having fought a student of Guy named Gou and was easily defeated by him. Gou is represented as a young warrior wearing Guy's Bushinryu uniform but in purple (the same color as Ginzu's uniform), and holding what appears to be Ginzu's katana Lightning Light on his back.
