Weapon X is a lethal anti-personnel/crowd dispersal weapon utilized by Robotnik's Troopers. This device was seen in Issue 21 in the story Girl Trouble.
A Trooper transport ship arrived in the Emerald Hill Zone to arrest Amy Rose, which Sonic and Johnny Lightfoot tried to stop. To secure their escape, the Troopers activated Weapon X, a spherical device which sprayed metallic spikes over a wide radius. With the Emerald Hill folk about to be cut down, Sonic ran around and grabbed all the spikes out of the air before they hit anyone, narrowly rescuing young Cedric. This diversionary tactic proved successful and the Troopers escaped with their prisoner.
