Sheep are ruminant mammals from Planet Earth and Mobius. They are often seen in the real world on farms as they are one of the most popular species of livestock, raised for their meat, fleece and milk. They are often characterised by their coat of wool, tendency to follow a herd and apathy towards most of the outside world.
Sheep have appeared sparingly in the pages of Sonic the Comic:
- The most prominent sheep are The Flock, a group of resistance soldiers fighting back against Doctor Robotnik's rule in the Chemical Plant Zone. Angered that their previously green home had been flattenend and overrun by toxic factories, the Flock decided to make a stand, particularly against the Zone's robotic ruler, Nutzan Bolt. When they discovered Nutzan's plan to flood the surrounding Zones with Mega Mack, they recruited "Zonerunner" Tails and foiled Bolt's schemes. The final battle saw them fight against fellow sheep Sol Furic, who had defected to Nutzan's side. He later returned to tell Tails that he was sorry for what he had done, but Sab believed he was responsible for a bomb that almost murdered the Flock. The sheep eventually settled their differences and defeated Nutzan completely, liberating the Zone from his rule (but not Robotnik's). Sab and Sol are now the personal guards of the Marxio Brothers.
- Sheep also inhabit the Cotton Factory Zone and were forced to use their wool to make Robotnik egg cosies and socks. Johnny Lightfoot arrived to liberate them when a sheep contacted him.
- A young female lamb was to be sacrificed to the Moon Goddess under the orders of Mesmer until Knuckles the Echidna freed her. Unfortunately, it was all part of a plan to have Knuckles killed in her place. She may be related to Mesmer, a goat.
- Baa Humbug is a villainous sheep from the Metropolis Zone. He gave up on crime when defeated by Captain Christmas and even gifted the superhero with his own car.
