Birds are (mainly) flying creatures that live on Planet Earth and Mobius. With many of them evolved from dinosaurs, birds are a plentiful species spread across all seven of Earth's main continents. Although most can fly (their most obvious characteristic), a sub-group called "flightless birds" are not so lucky, their strengths lying away from their wings. Birds are also shown in media to protect their laid eggs, scour the ground for food, sing in trees and act as aerial scouts, transports or warriors.
Sonic the Comic has seen a vast amount of birds over time. The main likeness to real world birds are Flickies, creatures hailing from a dimension hidden behind Flickies' Island. After Doctor Robotnik moved here to begin a new invasion of Mobius, the scientist experimented on Flickies by placing them inside newer, stronger Badnik shells. Flickies speak the unique language of Tweet, with only Tails seemingly able to understand them (or at least deduce their meaning).
Chickens are also prevalent, particularly in early strips with several making up the Emerald Hill folk. Apterix are equivalents to cattle in the flightless bird group.
