Ants are tiny insects that live on Planet Earth and Mobius. They are known to live in large colonies and work together to support the "family".
Despite other small Earth creatures appearing on Mobius as normal-sized citizens, ants are still tiny in Sonic the Comic. A couple of ants first appeared in the crowd for It's Your Shout, challenging Giles Baboon and Derek Wombat to protect ant colonies from predators, with an anteater having eaten their grandma the week before. A group of ants returned some time later, aiming to achieve equal rights for insects. They were originally ignored but helped Tails defeat Sleek the Panther by weakening the soil beneath his feet, causing the villain to fall into a pit.
Larger ants are possibly among many of the refugees from the Special Zone now living on Mobius following that universe's destruction.
Anton Badniks are vaguely based on ants.
