Wan'yek Whett was the captain of a crew of fishermen and the ship Grapnel.

Biography

Wan'yek was a bearded Besalisk who tried to fish on the planet of Sakavi Tar before Skoova Stev intervened and made a deal with him and his crew. Skoova joined Captain Whett and his crew in exchange for leaving Sakavi's waters untouched, eventually being promoted to first mate. Captain Whett later marooned Skoova in an escape pod, after he refused to employ lethal force during an escape from Quarren pirates[1]. Some time later, Captain Whett and his crew broke the agreement with Skoova, who found that his former crew had indeed begun to fish in Sakavi Tar's waters. Skoova tracked Captain Whett to the oceanic third moon of Antine, where the two dueled before Skoova excited a swarm of glumbrig eels in an attempt to defeat him, before getting speared himself by a harpoon. Skoova survived, and by 9 BBY,[2] he had had no word of Captain Whett, although he admitted to Cal Kestis that he had a nagging feeling that the Besalisk was not truly dead.[1]
