Variant

Variant, also known as Rift Mutation, was a bacterial mutation in the Kathol Outback. Due to exposure to the elements within the Kathol Rift, the mutation spoiled food stores, leaving ships without a food source unless remedied. Doctor Vin Emil, a xenobotanist at the Q'Maere Research Facility, developed an antidote for the mutation known as Variant Alpha.
