Tibidee

Tibidees were a type of giant silicon-based^[2] creature native to Stygeon Prime,^[7] though they could also be found on other mountainous Outer Rim planets,^[3] such as Oosalon.^[6]

Biology and appearance

The creatures were able to fly gracefully through a combination of their giant flat wings^[2] and internal gasbags.^[3] They had green eyes and long tails,^[7] and a mating call that sounded similar to some communication frequencies, sometimes causing the frequencies to attract the creatures.^[2] Their eyes had keen vision so they could see predators from far away.^[1] They were remotely related to neebrays and mynocks, both of which were also pests to starships.^[3]

Behavior

Though normally gentle, tibidees would attack anything they felt was threatening,^[7] including stormtroopers.^[5]

History

A group of tibidees thought that the jamming frequency of the Phantom, an attack shuttle, was a mating call and attacked it.^[5]

Behind the scenes

Tibidees were created for "Rise of the Old Masters," the fifth episode of the first season of Star Wars Rebels. The name was a result of the creature originally being unnamed, and therefore labeled "TBD" for "to be determined." The letters "TBD" then became tibidee.^[8]
