- "It's okay, everybody. The snap rat is safe in this create."
- ―Brightstar, moments after catching a snap rat
Snap rats were a type of rat found on the planet Tenoo. They had gray skin, gray fur, brown eyes, as well as thin whiskers under its snout. Around 232 BBY, Jedi Initiate Kai Brightstar chased a snap rat around the Jedi Temple on Tenoo. He eventually caught the critter and delivered them to the safari droid SF-R3 "Aree" for a safer home. In the same year, multiple snap rats were put on display at the Creature Stall of the Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu.
Biology and appearance
- "Wow. A real snap rat. Thanks for calling me, Lys. I can give it a safe home."
- ―SF-R3
Snap rat was a species of rats with gray skin, gray fur, brown eyes and thin whiskers underneath its snout. According to the safari droid SF-R3 "Aree," most people were scared of snap rats.[1]
History
- "Kai, you caught it all by yourself? Impressive. Most people are scared of them."
"Well, you know, with Master Zia and Wes both gone on a mission, I guess I'm the temple's creature catcher." - ―SF-R3 and Brightstar
In 232 BBY,[2] the Jedi initiate Kai Brightstar chased down a fleeing snap rat at the Jedi Temple's training field, causing panic and fear amongst other Jedi younglings. He was able to trap the creature in a crate and sent it back to Aree for a safer home, before accidentally letting a swarm of crystal web spiders to the Jedi Temple on the planet Tenoo.[1] In the same year, snap rats, along with other creatures, were seen on display at the Creature Stall of the Black Spire Outpost on the rocky planet Batuu.[3]
Behind the scenes
Snap rat first appeared in "A Sticky Situation," the second part of the eighth episode,[1] simultaneously with "Lys' Lost Lightsaber," the second part of the tenth episode, of the Disney+ and Disney Junior animated series Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures' second season,[3] which aired on August 14, 2024.[4] However, the species was only identified in the former episode.[1] The species was designed by illustrator Steph Laberis[5] and modeled by character modeler Rolando Ramirez Jr.[6]
