- "Salted blisters, the blasted fishwife! Nearly bit off ma damn flipper! Accursed scaremonger, I'll have it fer chum! I'll gut it with a rusted rudder!"
"So much for a noble beast demanding great respect." - ―Skoova Stev and Cal Kestis
The snakefish was a species of fish endemic to the holy moon Jedha, orbiting the Mid Rim planet NaJedha. The snakefish thrived in the scattered oases of the moon, including in the Narkis Highlands. The frigid waters of the oases provided a natural coolant for the snakefish. The hardy species only required the barest amount of nutrients to survive, which were provided in the form of detritus by sandstorms. A single sandstorm could provide enough nutrient-dense detritus that the snakefish could be fed for months at a time. Although it preferred the taste of crab, the snakefish was quick to bite the small body parts of sentient beings, such as toes.[1]
Skoova Stev, a fisherman who resided on the Outer Rim planet Koboh, caught a snakefish[1] in the arid flats of the Narkis Desert in 9 BBY[2] and put it in Pyloon's Saloon back on Koboh. The Sakavian considered the snakefish a noble beast that should be respected in high regard.[1]
