RJ-83, or simply referred as RJ, was the personal droid of Nash Durango[6] and also a friend to the Jedi Initiates Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, and Nubs during the High Republic Era.[5]
Biography
RJ-83 was an RJ unit who was active as the copilot of Nash Durango. With their shuttle, the Crimson Firehawk, they worked for Durango Shuttle Service, a company owned by Durango's parents. In 232 BBY, they were sent to Coruscant in one of the shuttles delivering Jedi younglings to the Jedi Temple on their homeworld Tenoo. They transported the three younglings Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay and Nubs. When they arrived on Tenoo, they were contacted by Hap, a chef who operated Hap's Sap Tap in Kublop Springs. He asked them for help, as his café was being raided by a gang of pirates led by Taborr Val Dorn. When they arrived in Kublop Springs, RJ-83 and Durango stayed with the ship. After a short fight, the pirates attempted to escape with their loot. The Jedi contacted Durango, who arrived with the Firehawk. With RJ-83's help, she used a crane hook to pull up the cart with Hap's stolen belongings. This distracted the pirates long enough for the Jedi and several local residents to arrive, forcing the pirates to leave empty-handed. RJ-83 and Durango later transported the Jedi to the temple.[1]
Behind the scenes
RJ-83 first appeared in the short "Meet the Young Jedi" of the Disney Junior animated series Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures.[6] RJ-83 was voiced by Jonathan Lipow.[5]
