In the realm beyond shadows, the dead spirit of Mara Jade told Luke Skywalker that the entity Abeloth was one of the Old Ones, warning him that the being could not be killed. Abeloth's immortality resulted from her defying the Father of the family the Ones whom she initially served when they materialized from being Celestials and then became the Mother; she wanted to be immortal like the rest of her family and thus drank from the Font of Power and swam in the Pool of Knowledge.[1] The sinuous carvings associated with Abeloth[2] existed on Shatuun in the Kathol Outback.[3] The Aing-Tii people in the Kathol Rift kept the Kathol relic known as the Codex that Jacen Solo and later Luke Skywalker used to detect the disturbance in the Force originating in the Maw, in which Abeloth was imprisoned.[4]
