- "A little something I picked up from my pal, Needles, best street racer in all of Corellia. Till he crashed and died, doing this."
- ―Han Solo, before attempting Needles' maneuver
Needles was a male individual who was a friend of Han Solo. According to Solo, Needles was the best street racer on Corellia. At some point before 10 BBY, Needles attempted to pull a dangerous maneuver whilst driving a vehicle, but it failed and he was killed. Whilst escaping from the Galactic Empire in the Maw Cluster, Solo and the Wookiee Chewbacca successfully performed the same move Needles attempted.[1]
Behind the scenes
Needles was first mentioned in the 2018 Star Wars Anthology film Solo: A Star Wars Story. The film's co-writer Jon Kasdan revealed on his Twitter account that Needles' name is a reference to Douglas J. Needles (portrayed by Obi-Wan Kenobi actor Flea), a character who appeared in the second and third films of the Back to the Future trilogy.[2]
