Mzzrzz

"You know, the prophet Mzzrzz spoke of a divine consciousness inside a lump of bantha dung which could usher in an age of enlightenment—and he still had at least half his head attached at that point."
―Korin Aphra[1]

Mzzrzz was a prophet who lived at some point before the time of the Galactic Empire. Mzzrzz claimed to know of a divine consciousness inside a lump of bantha dung, which he believed could lead the galaxy to a new age of enlightenment. At some point during his life, Mzzrzz lost at least half of his head, though he survived for some time despite the injuries. After being captured by the Empire and held prisoner aboard[1] the flagship Executor[2] in 3 ABY,[3] the scholar Korin Aphra mentioned Mzzrzz and his theory while criticizing the Sith Lord Darth Vader's claim that the Empire created its own history.[1]

Behind the scenes

Mzzrzz was mentioned in the thirty-eighth issue of the 2016 Star Wars: Doctor Aphra comic series. The issue was written by Simon Spurrier and published by Marvel Comics[1] on November 6, 2019.[4]

  2. Doctor Aphra (2016) 37
  3. The events of Doctor Aphra (2016) 37 and Doctor Aphra (2016) 38 take place immediately before Doctor Aphra (2016) 39, where it is established that Echo Base had been constructed on Hoth. Star Wars: Timelines states that Echo Base was constructed in 3 ABY and places the base's destruction at the Battle of Hoth in the same year, meaning that the events of Doctor Aphra 38, including the mention of Mzzrzz, are set in 3 ABY.
