Javroth Meers

Javroth Meers was a human member of the partisans led by resistance fighter Saw Gerrera. After being arrested for assault by the Milvayne Authority, Meers knocked out an officer, stole their uniform, and escaped. In 1 BBY, the human was among the partisan forces that captured the rebel Jyn Erso and her allies in Jedha City on the moon Jedha.

The prisoners were brought back to Gerrera's base in the Catacombs of Cadera on Jedha, where Meers escorted Erso to Gerrera. The Imperial Death Star's superlaser then destroyed Jedha City, and Meers was among the partisans that fled from the catacombs in order to try and avoid the blast wave it created.

Biography

JavrothEscort-RO

The human Javroth Meers was a member of the resistance fighter Saw Gerrera's partisans during their campaigns against the Galactic Empire. After the Milvayne Authority—a law enforcement agency[1] based out of the planet Milvayne[3] in the Inner Rim Territories[4]—arrested Meers for assault, the human escaped custody by knocking out an officer and stealing their uniform.[1]

By 1 BBY,[5] Meers was part of the partisan forces based with Gerrera in the Catacombs of Cadera on the moon Jedha. Following a partisan ambush of Imperial forces in Tythoni Square in Jedha City, Meers and a group of other partisans led by the Tognath Benthic captured the rebel agents Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor and the Guardians of the Whills Chirrut Îmwe and Baze Malbus in a separate square, with Meers running up behind Andor and forcing him to the ground. After Erso informed them that she was the daughter of Gerrera's old ally Galen Erso, Benthic had bags placed over the prisoners' heads so that they could be escorted to the catacombs. Meers pulled Andor from the ground once he had been bagged.[2]

Once at the catacombs, Meers and another partisan escorted a bound Jyn through the structure to Gerrera, passing her off to Benthic once they reached the group's leader. As Gerrera and Jyn spoke, the Empire's Death Star battle station fired its superlaser at Jedha, obliterating Jedha City and creating a shockwave heading toward the catacombs. The partisans inside began to flee, with Meers exiting the structure alongside the prisoner Bodhi Rook as Benthic ushered everyone toward what starships they had.[2] While Benthic and some other partisans did manage to escape the blast, many others perished.[6]

Personality and traits

Javroth Meers had tan skin and black hair.[2]

Equipment

As a badge of rebellion, Meers wore a stolen suit of Milvayne Authority armor,[1] including a black and white helmet, a padded, brown blast tunic, brown pants, black boots, and a black utility belt. The tunic had webbing on the right shoulder and a black armor plate on both. The partisan also carried a blaster rifle.[2]

Behind the scenes

Javroth Meers first appeared simultaneously in the Anthology Series film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story[2] and its junior novelization by Matt Forbeck,[7] both of which were released on December 16, 2016.[8] The character was then identified in the 2023 reference book Star Wars: Dawn of Rebellion: The Visual Guide, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo and Emily Shkoukani.[1] The character's costume matches that of Tam Posla, a character created for the film[9] who did not make it into the final cut.[2] Posla was portrayed by[10] concept artist Matt Allsopp,[11] with costume designer Glyn Dillon letting Allsopp pick the design before tweaking it.[12]
