- «Your father had it coming, Illini. [sic] »
«Yeah, but you didn't have to help me hide the body.»
«I'd do it again, love.» - ―Hareck and Ilini
Hareck was a male Ubese bounty hunter who was married to Ilini, a non-binary Ubese. After Ilini killed their own father, Hareck helped them hide the body. The exiled couple became members of Boushh's crew.
Biography
Hareck was a male[2] Ubese bounty hunter[1] and the spouse of Ilini,[4] a non-binary individual.[6] After Ilini killed their own father, whom Hareck believed had deserved that fate, he helped to hide the body. The couple was exiled from Uba IV and eventually joined a crew of Ubese exiles led by Boushh.[1]
Personality and traits
- "Hey, put the blaster down. We're not here for you. We'll leave you be if you just tell us where the Executive Board is—"
- ―Hareck, attempting to reassure Lapin Tagge and a group of interns
Hareck was empathetic to Boushh's grief about Keln. When Hareck realized that he and Ilini had come upon a group of young interns guarded by Lapin Tagge rather than the Executive Board, Hareck tried to reassure the group that he and Ilini were not there to harm the "kids." He disliked being hired to assassinate the TaggeCo Executive Board and did not consider it the work of a bounty hunter.[1] He also disapproved of Brene's jokes while the crew was mid-battle.[4]
Skills and abilities
Along with Ubese, Hareck spoke the Galactic Basic Standard language.[1]
Equipment
Hareck wore garments in shades of tan and gray, including gray heavy pauldrons and a brown scarf around his neck. His helmet had a yellow visor and he wielded a large double-barreled blaster rifle.[1]
Behind the scenes
- "He's the level-headed friend who's constantly doing damage control. Also, an excellent cook"
- ―Alyssa Wong comments on Hareck's personality
Hareck first appeared in the Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters comic book crossover issue War of the Bounty Hunters – Boushh 1, which was written by Alyssa Wong with art by David Baldeón.[1] After the release of the issue, Wong shared further details from their script notes on Twitter, including Hareck's he/him pronouns and observations about his personality;[3] a later tweet confirmed Hareck's male gender.[2] The author also indicated that Hareck should be included when listing LGBTQ+ characters due to his relationship with Illini.[7]
