- "How in the seven Genetian moons are we supposed to destroy that?"
- ―Klinith Da
Genetia was an Expansion Region[1] planet[3] in grid square I-14 of the Standard Galactic Grid[1] that was orbited by seven moons.[2] It was inhabited by the Genetians, a human race whose Force-sensitive members tended to have powerful empathic abilities.[3] Genetia was the homeworld of Imri Cantaros, as well as his father, and as a child he divided his time between Genetia and his mother's homeworld of Hynestia before he eventually ended up at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant where he spent his youngling years.[3] The seven Genetian moons were used as an exclamation by the Nihil pirate Klinith Da after she saw the large cruiser Steady Wing, which she and fellow pirate Gwishi had been sent to destroy.[2]
Behind the scenes
Genetia was mentioned in the 2021 novel The High Republic: A Test of Courage written by Justina Ireland. In chapter four, Cantaros is stated to be from Genetia. Chapter 18, however, states he is from Hynestia.[2] The High Republic: Out of the Shadows clarifies this by stating that Cantaros' father was from Genetia and his mother from Hynestia, and he split his time between the worlds before he was discovered by the Jedi.[3]
