Cracek was a language spoken by the Esral'sa'Nikto, a Nikto subspecies.[1] The traditional Cracek greeting of friendship was a noise similar to a shriek accompanied by the speaker's head fins flaring outward.[2] In 34 ABY,[3] the Esral'sa'Nikto Oplock[2] cheerfully[1] greeted three mechanics—the Kadas'sa'Nikto Neeku Vozo and the humans Kazuda Xiono and Tamara Ryvora—while aboard the supertanker fuel depot Colossus. Though Xiono and Ryvora were frightened by the Cracek greeting, Vozo clarified its meaning to them.[2]
Behind the scenes
- "Jonathan Lipow plays Oplock. He makes the most inhuman voices ever. He's the perfect person to play all these like alien sounds. He's really phenomenal."
- ―Christopher Sean
Cracek first appeared in "The Platform Classic,"[2] the ninth episode of the first season of the animated television series Star Wars Resistance, which aired on November 25, 2018.[5] In the episode, Oplock was portrayed by Jonathan Lipow.[2] Oplock's facial fins were designed to help him express his emotions while speaking Cracek by flaring outward.[6] In the audio commentary for the episode, the voice actor of Kazuda Xiono—Christopher Sean—praised Lipow's performance of the language's sounds. Meanwhile, Myrna Velasco—the voice actor of Ace Squadron pilot Torra Doza—appreciated the humor in Oplock's Cracek outburst, finding the moment "perfect timing."[4]
