The Caphex were a humanoid sentient species with wispy hair that grew from the sides of their faces.[2]

The Caphex Bryn was a member of the Nihil marauders during the High Republic Era, serving under Melis Shryke in the Nihil Occlusion Zone.[4] The Caphex Dante was a member of the Jedi Order at the end of the Clone Wars and was selected as a candidate member of the Galactic Empire's Inquisitorius.[3]

The Caphex Seossra Thwisp worked as a spy for Leia Organa's Resistance during the Cold War with the First Order. Thwisp's homeworld was Caphexdis,[2] and she was later stationed at Organa's base on Ajan Kloss prior to the Battle of Exegol.[5]

Behind the scenes

The Caphex were created for the 2019 film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, the final installment of the sequel trilogy. Concept art for the species was drawn by Luke Fisher and featured in the book The Art of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, where they are referred to as "Wizard 71."[6]

The Caphex first appeared in the Celebration Edition update to the 2017 video game Star Wars Battlefront II. The free update was released in the days prior to Episode IX's release and featured content from the upcoming film.[7] In the game, players can take control of the "Caphex spy," a member of the Infiltration class. The spy wields a truncheon for close-quarters combat and has the ability to call down an orbital bombardment on opponents.[1]
