California was a location or possibly an organization in the galaxy. It was found on rectangular fore and aft markings on Buicks.^[1]

California is a real-world location in the United States of America. The game designers who programmed this into the game may have been simply drawing from this real-world area, as the plate matches those common on vehicles in the state.
