Batuu knots were a type of knot—considered complex by the Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh—that could be used to tie things[1] and shared their name with the Outer Rim world Batuu.[2] By 232 BBY,[3] the scientist Avon Starros had become familiar with Batuu knots and taught her protocol droid J-6 how to tie using them after they were sent to the outpost Port Haileap on the Outer Rim planet Haileap.[1]
That year,[3] J-6 was part of a group stranded on the Outer Rim moon Wevo. After capturing the Nihil pirates Klinith Da and Gwishi while on Wevo, J-6 used a series of Batuu knots to tie up the pirates and put them in the cargo deck of their ship. After the droid had finished tying up the two, Rwoh mentally noted her use of the Batuu knots.[1]
