Abonshee

Abonshee—literally, Masterhome—was a planet in the Abonshee system of Fakir sector in the Bakchou arm. It was a temperate world with hardy flora and reptilian fauna. It was home to the reptilian Anointed People, and was located in the Northern Dependencies. The name "Masterhome" was given by the Anointed People. Abonshee was discovered by the Galactic Republic some ninety years before the Battle of Yavin.

Description

Abonshee was a terrestrial planet with a breathable atmosphere. The northern continent had a temperate climate and ecology that was comfortable by Human standards. The world was inhabited by the native Anointed People, bipedal lizard-like species who were organized in to a feudal caste society led by the Godking. The planet's largest city was located on the northern continent, sprawling over six kilometers. The Godking's castle stood at the center, surrounded by one and two-storey wood and stone buildings. Around twenty thousand Anointed People lived in the city.^[2]

Hundreds of kilometers of woodland surrounded the city, with farms, towns, and castles dotted around the landscape in clearings. The forests teemed with animal life and were full of trees, open meadows, and babbling brooks. Small towns were situated around either a well or a crossroads, and usually in sight of a local castle. Wooden buildings dominated the towns with the villagers being engaged in work such as farming, tanning, and blacksmithing. Small walled castles were ruled by the local nobility, the Godlings.^[2]

History

A scouting expedition discovered Abonshee around 90 BBY, and reported that the native species were warlike and hostile. Under the rule of Godking Trisstan, Abonshee and the Anointed People entered a forty-year golden age of peace and prosperity. Ignored by the Galactic Empire, Abonshee was selected by Reekeene's Roughnecks as the target of a diplomatic mission from the Alliance to Restore the Republic to gain the Anointed People's support.^[2]
