Rogue NID

The Rogue NID is an offshoot of the National Intelligence Department.

History

This section requires expansion

The rogue NID was formed in 1998 when the second Stargate at Area 51 was stolen and used to steal the Touchstone from Madrona. They were cut off from Earth when the Stargate was taken from their control. (SG1: "Touchstone")

They came under control of The Committee who wanted to use the technology gained to make a profit. (SG1: "Smoke and Mirrors")

The offworld personnel formed the Rogue NID base on Arbella where they continued to steal technology from the Tollan, Tok'ra, Nox and Asgard. Colonel Harry Maybourne commanded the team using a Long range visual communication device to send them information. As a result, Earth's allies threatened to cut off all contact if the SGC wasn't proven to be innocent. (SG1: "Shades of Grey")

Shortly before the planned operation could begin, Maybourne tipped off the Goa'uld Hecate to SG-1's movements so that she would eliminate the team and keep them from exposing his operations. However, this plot failed thanks to the covert assistance of a Jack O'Neill and Samantha Carter from an alternate timeline where the Earth was destroyed by the Goa'uld and the Wraith after the Rogue NID weren't exposed. (SG1: "Hostile Ground", "Insurrection")

The offworld group was arrested when Jack O'Neill infiltrated them and allowed the Asgard to uncover the location of their base, where they started to take all the stolen technology back. The rogue NID had no choice but to follow O'Neill back to Earth where they were arrested along with their mole, Colonel Robert Makepeace. (SG1: "Shades of Grey")

The Rogue NID gave information to the Russians about the Stargate, allowing them to run their own program. (SG1: "Watergate")

Elements of the Rogue NID continued to operate, sending someone to meet with Major General George S. Hammond to try to get him to change his policies regarding obtaining advanced technologies but Hammond refused. The representative told him there would be consequences and the next day two men picked up his granddaughters at school. Hammond got the message but decided to step down as commander of the SGC rather than give in. The Rogue NID positioned Major General Bauer as the new commander as he was more likely to work towards their goals. O'Neill found information that Senator Robert Kinsey was involved with the Rogue NID and used that information to blackmail Kinsey into getting the Rogue NID to stop their activities. (SG1: "Chain Reaction")

By 2002, an offworld cell created android duplicates of SG-1 using technology that they had tricked Harlan into giving them operating from Perseus. Theta team was destroyed by SG-1 while the cell was destroyed by Gamma team, two of whom were destroyed themselves in the process. Gamma Carter and Daniel took the power equipment that they would need to continue their existence and destroyed the Rogue NID's duplication equipment. It was also revealed that the cell previously shut down by O'Neill was just one cell with as many as forty cells suspected to exist both on and offworld. (SG1: "Hydra")

A rogue NID cell paid Al Martell to help them pose as a camera crew going aboard the Prometheus where they took control and threatened to detonate the hyperdrive unless Frank Simmons and a Goa'uld were released and brought to them. The Goa'uld fixed the hyperdrive and they took the ship to a location of an Ancient cache of weapons and technology but the planet was not where it was supposed to be. The cell was captured. (SG1: "Prometheus")

Their continued operations were stopped when the members of The Committee were arrested by the NID. (SG1: "Smoke and Mirrors")

A rogue NID cell operated in Los Angeles and created a human-Goa'uld hybrid called Anna who ended up killing almost all of them. (SG1: "Resurrection")

Some members of the rogue NID became The Trust. (SG1: "Affinity", "Covenant")
