Astarte, also known as Istar or Athtar, was one of Ba'al's Goa'uld underlords.
Biography
Background Information
She portrayed herself as a goddess of both fertility and reproduction much like Hathor. She often served Ba'al as the first Goa'uld of a "new order" when Ba'al began terraforming newly conquered planets. However, rather than using raw power like most other Goa'uld, Astarte preferred to win over the populations with her hosts' beauty and indeed often didn't even reveal herself as a Goa'uld until much later. She was more than happy to use other means when this did not prove effective, though Ba'al himself preferred such means to be reserved for himself so that he could make a memorable impression on his subjects. Astarte was unquestionably loyal to Ba'al, and believed that she would gain power quickly as his left hand. (RPG: "Living Gods: Stargate System Lords")
