Mummy is a canceled mutant planned early in the development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.
General Information
"Some kind of creation of the Zone - a sick creature with former workers of the Pripyat overpass welded into it." - Ilya Tolmachev (personal corespondence)
It is probably some kind of parasitic organism capable of merging with human bodies and mutating into more developed stages to the state of an independent organism.
Appearance
A tall, hunched creature with elongated arms and legs. Both hands have a pair of long, clawed fingers; the feet are missing - instead there are pointed “log-houses”. A very thin body, the spinous processes of the vertebrae and pelvic bones protrude strongly through the skin. The head is about one and a half times larger than a human head and has a teardrop shape, with a very pointed chin.
The mutant is an organism of unknown origin, fused with two human bodies that once belonged to former employees Pripyat 1 underpass. One human head protrudes from the back (in the thoracic spine), the second - from the upper abdomen. Both heads retain some facial features. In the immediate vicinity of the heads, limbs that resenle human hands grow with uncharacteristic pointed fingers.
Location
It was planned that the mutant would live in the Pripyat-1 overpass.
History of creation
Presumably, the mutant was conceived early in the development of STALKER: Call of Pripyat (work title - STALKER: Secrets of the Zone) as a rough idea, and was abandoned by the end of autumn.
Early information
General information
The mutant was planned as an independent organism, vaguely reminiscent of the mummified body of a humanoid creature with uncharacteristic appearance features.
Appearance
According to information from the layers in the preserved psd file, the mutant went through several iterations at the sketch creation stage. Originally conceived as an anthropomorphic creature with clawed fingers and toes. It most likely had a human skull. There were also some growths on the back, stomach and lower jaw, reminiscent of lichen or cobwebs.
In the next version, the legs were shortened: they were deprived of feet, and sharp “log houses” appeared instead of them. Lichen-like growths on the back were also removed.
Next, the hands were redrawn into a kind of hooks, the “log houses” of the legs became less pointed. The lower jaw has become longer and pointed.
Afterwards, the mutant became more similar to the final drawing: a human face and a process resembling a human hand were drawn on the back. In the upper left corner, starting from this iteration, the word “parasite” without the letter “p” is present. At the last stage, the face on the stomach and the remaining processes were drawn.
Images
For the mutant, one sketch has been preserved by art director Ilya Tolmachev , created on September 9, 2008 . It was first shown on October 22, 2012 in an article from the fan site GSC-Fan.Com and was distributed with the site's watermark, but later its former editor-in-chief Vyacheslav Murygin provided the sketch in its original form.
"One of the monsters from Ilya Tolmachev's hand. Unfortunately, I don't remember anything specifically about this creature. <..>" - Andrey Verpakhovsky, in an article for GSC-Fan.Com
On April 19, 2021, an archive was posted, which contains a psd version of the image with the modification date of September 11, 2008 .
It is noteworthy that for the article on the GSC-Fan.Com website , a version of the image was provided without the word “parasite”, but with the creation date saved, and in the existing PSD file the penultimate layer (with the head on the back and the word “parasite”) was disabled.
