Squid Girl (イカ娘, Ika Musume; lit. "Squid Daughter") is a humanoid squid girl who came to land with the goal of taking over it and is the main protagonist of the Squid Girl franchise.
I am going to use this house as a base to squidly subdue humantity!—Squid Girl, to Customers & Workers of Lemon Beach House,
Who's up for a squid-vasion? / ... (Season 1, episode 1 overall overall)
Her goal is to take over humanity as punishment for the pollution done to the sea. But her initial attempt fails and after causing damage to Lemon Beach House (which she planned to use as a base), she was forced to work as a waitress to pay for the damages. She possesses numerous squid abilities. Her favorite food is shrimp, and she greatly fears natural predators of squids and initially couldn't distinguish between inflatable or toy versions. Although generally immature at first and often getting herself into mischief from the start, she is a fast learner and can be an unexpected savant with some skills.

Appearance
Squid Girl appears as a young humanoid girl with aqua blue cephalopod tentacles for hair along with messy bangs and matching aqua blue eyes, and typically in a white sleeveless dress with bulging blue bracelets and anklets.
Her real age is unknown but her appearance matches that of a 12 to 16 year old. Her outfit mainly consists a white sleeveless V-neck summer dress with light blue linings on the neckline and near the bottom with a circular pattern in between and a pair of white ankle boots with a thick ring or sock on top of each. Around her wrists she always wears two thick blue bracelets that are actually weight shifters. On her head is a pointed white cap in the shape of a squid's head.
Aside from her usual dress, she is seen wearing a simple white V-neck one piece swimsuit when she is swimming.
She had a coat in Episode 10.
In Episode 12 she cut her tentacles off because they were not working anymore, but they grew back later in the episode.
In Episode 12 of Season 2 she wore a pink kimono to a festival.
She occasionally wears different outfits as well.
Personality

Squid Girl is initially demanding when she is in "invasion-mode", but is easily persuaded or distracted by other things.
History
Squid Girl was hatched into the ocean near Japan and lived there for an unknown amount of years. But when humans started littering the sea she came to land with the goal to take it over as revenge. Her main goal was to make them pay for dirtying the ocean with their garbage, but accidentally blew a hole in the Lemon Beach House, which is owned by Chizuru, Eiko, and Takeru. In order to pay back the money for the repair, she started working at the Lemon Beach House, while continuing to try to take over the Earth.
Over time she meets various visitors to the beach including acquaintances and friends of the Aizawa family, alien researchers, rivals of various sorts, and slowly furthers her efforts to conquer the land dwellers. She also demonstrates or discovers her various abilities, fears, and weaknesses.

Goro Arashiyama called them "all-purpose tentacles". |

- Due to her strong tentacles, she is an excellent baseball player and drummer.
- Her outfit is available as unlockable clothes in the first Splatoon game as part of a collaboration. For girls it appears the same, while for boys the dress has a tunic appearance.
