Awarded for defending allies from pirate raids and hostile empire attacks.
Even if you don't help your allies and they fight off the attackers themselves, you will still get points toward this badge. There really isn't a split tactic for this badge, because players don't know just how many enemies or allies a single empire has. Defending your own planets gives points to this badge as well.
