Blue giant

Blue Giant
Blue giants

A blue giant is the least common type of star in the Space Stage. When the player is inside a planetary system, all blue giants have identical color, size and brightness; being bluish-white and larger than both red dwarfs and yellow stars. From the interstellar view, blue giants appear almost entirely white.

They are usually the single star in their planetary system, although they can form part of OO, OG and OM binary systems. Although blue giants stars are the rarest type of star in the Space Stage, they are still more common than binary systems.

Most planets orbiting blue giants have blue spice, being the only systems that produce it. Further, there is a higher chance of encountering green, pink and purple spice planets in these systems.

Trivia

  • Blue giants belong to spectral class O, as explained in the game's descriptions of binary systems.
  • Although blue giants in Spore often have inhabited planets, in reality the lifespan of O-type stars is thought to be too short (less than one billion years) for complex life to evolve in any planet around them.
