Ol' Reliable is SpongeBob's most prized jellyfish net. It first appears in the episode "Nature Pants."
Description
"Nature Pants"
It is a jellyfish net made of gold. It is carried in a dual-latch case bearing the name of the net in grayish-blue capital letters, and when revealed, Ol' Reliable is heralded by an angelic choir and sparkles brightly.
"The Pink Purloiner"
It is a more advanced net with silicon netting, carbon fiber handle, titanium skeleton, and a soft red grip handle.
Role in series
"Nature Pants"
SpongeBob gives it to Patrick when he decides to live with the jellyfish. Patrick then uses it later to try to capture SpongeBob. After failing to catch him, he in anger snaps it in half.
"The Pink Purloiner"
SpongeBob thinks Patrick stole Ol' Reliable (now a different net as the original broke). At the end of the episode, SpongeBob and Patrick find out that the former left it on the bus, and then SpongeBob gives it to Patrick, thinking he was going to move away. Patrick ends up staying, and they both jellyfish with their new nets.
Role in video games
Legend of the Lost Spatula
It is an item given to the player by Patrick after retrieving his shorts from the carnival. It is used to catch small flying enemies.
SpongeBob's Truth or Square
It's one of SpongeBob's happiness objects.
