Arthias (アーティアス?) is an army started by the Cadet (the player character) in Soulcalibur III's Chronicles of the Sword. It's considered to be the "Fifth New World Army,"[1] an army comprised of people who bear no allegiance to the Grandall Empire, the Kingdom of Dalkia, the Halteese Republic, or Maletta.
History
General Girardot had rebelled against the Grandall Empire after seeing the suffering of its people. The Cadet, assigned as the leader of the anti-rebel force, had defeated Girardot in battle. Girardot told the Cadet to question who they fight for and why, but was interrupted by Strife, who had impaled him with Soul Edge, instantly killing him. The next day, the Cadet rebelled.
The anti-rebel forces called themselves "Arthias", and marched towards Parousia, the capital of Grandall. The Grandall Empire would collapse after they successfully defeat and kill Strife.
